Some of the best things come out of the garden, and they wake up with a little imagination. Yes, lettuce can get boring, so here are the ways you can make it interesting again. Basic Salad dressings need a few critical ingredients:
- Fat: This can be oil, mayo, sour cream, or even yogurt.
- Acid: lemon juice (or other citrus), any kind of vinegar. Prepared Mustards contain vinegar, so I include them here. The choices are endless
- Salt and other seasonings. These are added after the first two are chosen.

Most salads are built on lettuce, but they don’t have to be. Others, like cole slaw, start with cabbage, and still others have broccoli or beans or pasta as the base. It all comes down to what you like. At the end of the day, eat what YOU like.
