Mac & Cheese Please! Is there anything better than creamy, homemade macaroni & cheese? Gooey in the middle with a little bit of crisp on the top….. yum. We make this dish for any occasion, like Saturday. It is one of Katelynne’s favorites and most requested.
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- Salt & pepper
- 1 egg (tempered)
- 2 oz cream cheese
- 6 oz Any Shredded/grated cheese you want:
- Cheddar
- Mozzarella
- Gruyere
- Parmesan
- Whatever you have💛
- 1/2 lb of pasta
- large macaroni
- rotini
- or penne
Instructions for Macaroni & Cheese
- Butter the dish
- Melt the butter in a sauce pan
- Add the flour to make a blonde roux
- Add mustard & seasonings
- Melt shredded cheese into sauce; save extra cheddar for the top.
- Add the tempered egg
- Add the al dente pasta to the dish.
- Mix sauce into the pasta, and top with more cheese
- Bake at 350 for 30 min. Let it sit on the counter at least 10 min before serving.
