Jennskitchenblog Adventures in Germany, Austria, and Italy – Day 5 Romantic Strasse on the way to Seefeld in Tirol

Waking up in Rothenberg was a wonderful day. It was our 25th Anniversary! We were headed to our favorite place in the world, The Alps. The Germans have a saying, “When God created the world, he left his fingerprint in the Alps.” It is true. In my opinion, the Alps are the most beautiful place in the world. Our plan was to get to Seefeld in Tirol by 6:00 pm. The Hotel Residence Metropol was our destination for the next three days. This hotel was in the shadow of the mountain that hangs in my living room. Jos and Denise Evers are gracious hosts. I recommend this hotel for a getaway at any time of the year.

We started down the Romantic Road toward Fussen. Paul’s brother suggested a stop at Ottobeuren Abbey, a Benedictine monastery founded in 764 AD. It is off the beaten path and amazing.

Next, we made our way to Fussen to see the High Castle. A little bit of royalty, and a big temperature drop had me shopping for a light jacket in the rain. Eiscafe and a couple of castles made the afternoon perfect. Next, we went to Hohenswangau just across from the incredibly beautiful and famous Neuschweinstein castle built by King Ludwig.

Once we made it Seefeld in Tirol, we found a lovely restaurant to get a Rumpsteak, a Schnitzel, and a nice glass of wine to celebrate our anniversary. #food

Up next… Day 6 in Austria with the Glass Factory, Innsbruck, and an Alpine Lake
